NDRMO urges people to stay alert and prepared as Heavy Rain Warning remains in force

The National Disaster Risk Management Office is urging people to remain vigilant and ensure they are fully prepared, as the Heavy Rain Warning continues for Fiji.

They are advising the people to stay away from flooded rivers, streams, drains, roads, and walkways, stressing that people should not try to cross or swim in water above knee level.

The NDRMO is also asking families to remain prepared, ensure children are supervised at all times, and check on neighbours, particularly the elderly and those with special needs.

Meanwhile, a Heavy Rain Warning remains in force for the entire group.

The Weather Office says an active trough of low pressure, with associated clouds, showers, and rain, is expected to affect the group over the next few days.

They warn of occasional rain, with isolated heavy rain and thunderstorms across most areas.

The Weather Office says a Strong Wind Warning remains in force for the land areas of Macuata, Northern Bua, Cikobia and nearby smaller islands, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, and the Lau and Lomaiviti groups.
