While a lot has been said about the legality or otherwise of the implementation of the People's Charter and the constitutional and electoral changes, it has been made clear that the National Council for Building a Better Fiji (NCBBF) will rely on the collective will of the people.
An NCBBF document states that it is a myth to believe that the Charter is illegal and can never be legitimate. It said no Charter exists at this stage as only a draft is being put to the people from yesterday.
The NCBBF said the key issue is that if a majority of people endorse the proposed changes, then it will become the collective will of the people and it would give legitimacy to the Charter.
Meanwhile, interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama said he will also take the proposed changes to the Presidential Forum.
Bainimarama also stressed that there will be no breach of the constitution but it will depend on the collective will of the people if changes need to be made for the good of Fiji.
