Students around the country will be having a mufti day on Thursday with the purpose to provide an opportunity for all teachers and students to make voluntary cash contribution towards the victims of Cyclone Pam in Vanuatu.
This was announced by the Minister for Education Dr Mahendra Reddy who said a circular has been sent out to all district and schools informing them of the initiative.
Dr Reddy said they are making it clear to all teachers that no one should be forced to make their contribution.
This is a voluntary exercise and the Ministry is hoping that all students and teachers will commit to this cause as the country tries to confront the devastation caused by Cyclone Pam.
He said they are also inviting the kindergarten and tertiary institutions to be involved in this initiative should they wish.
