Mothers will now have better facilities at the Labasa Hospital’s Labour Ward and Maternity Unit.

This is after the newly refurbished ward funded by ANZ was opened by the Minister of Health Rosy Akbar.

The refurbishment works worth $8,000 included the upgrade of two delivery rooms, bathrooms and washrooms.

Refurbishment works also covered for new decorations and curtains in the nurses stations, observation and delivery rooms to give patients a more appealing and comforting environment.

The Health Minister says this donation has come at a very good time with the increase in deliveries which now stands at 15 deliveries daily during January to July each year with approximately 5 to 6 deliveries recorded on a daily basis for the rest of the year.

Akbar adds this has given the hospital a news look as the last major renovation works had been done 10 years ago.
