More traders are expected to have charges filed against them for selling price controlled items at excessive prices and failure to mark prices on certain items as the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission heads to the Northern Division this week.
This was highlighted by the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission CEO, Joel Abraham who says that the traders who are under investigation were involved in the Homes CARE and Farms CARE initiatives in the Western Division found to be contravening provisions of the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission Act 2010.
Abraham says traders were notified that their actions will have severe repercussions.
He says after the second round of investigations in the Western Division, the Commission can confirm that there are 4 traders that are under active investigation.
Abraham says their officers have been going out in numbers and gathering enough information from suppliers.
He says that they have calling on consumers to come out and give the Commission information on specific transactions that will enable them to target their investigations into the right areas.
