Mele Buadromo serves on US Mercy ship mission
Mele Buadromo who was born and raised in Fiji is an Advanced Medical Assistant for the Australian Navy and is on board the Mercy ship

As thousands of people continue to be assisted by more than 1,000 personnel on the US Navy Hospital Ship, Mercy, there is confirmation today that one of the medics assisting in the surgeries on board is a person with Fijian connections.

Mele Buadromo who was born and raised in Fiji is an Advanced Medical Assistant for the Australian Navy and is on board the Mercy ship which is currently in the Northern division before going to Papua New Guinea and the Philippines.

Buadromo who went to Veiuto Primary School in the 1990's and then to Suva Grammar School says she joined the Australian Army in 2006 when she was 17 years old. She then joined the Australian Navy in August last year.

Speaking from the Mercy Ship berthed in Savusavu, Mele Buadromo says she is proud to be a person from Fiji helping out those who are in need.

Mele Buadromo says she has a lot of fond memories from the time when she was in Fiji and she also advises the youth to work hard as nothing is impossible.

The Mercy Ship leaves our shores on Friday.
