A major twist has now occurred in Fiji soccer with the Prime Minister's Investigation Team investigating the allegation of match fixing in the Ba Lautoka Champion vs Champion soccer match.
Fijivillage News has received information that some executives of Ba soccer and some members of the public had written to the Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama to investigate the matter.
This hour Fiji FA President Doctor Shamshud Dean Sahu Khan said he knows the Prime Minister will not take this matter lightly but he cannot say much.
Following days of allegations levelled against the Ba and Lautoka soccer teams in relation to the 7-0 Champion vs Champion match,
Permanent Secretary for Information, Lt Colonel Neumi Leweni today confirmed to Fijivillage News that the Prime Minister told the Investigation team to start investigations after receiving the complaints.
A few people have already been questioned.
Lt Colonel Leweni also said they will also look into issues in relation to certain soccer executives who are civil servants.
There are allegations against Ba that it gave the game away to Lautoka by the huge margin to ensure that Lautoka wins the CVC series title.
Ba Soccer President Rishi Kumar said he welcomes the investigation and they need to determine if the match was fixed.
Navua Soccer Association President, Anil Sharma now hopes that justice prevails.
Lautoka Soccer President, Shalen Prasad has refused to make any comments.
However Fijivillage News can confirm that a Lautoka soccer official was questioned by the investigation team earlier this week.
Meanwhile Doctor Sahu Khan said the district soccer Presidents can say whatever they want on the investigation.
But his stand is clear.
