Magistrates appointed
Eight magistrates and the Chief Magistrate have been appointed in the last hour by President Ratu Josefa Iloilo under the Administration of Justice Decree 2009.
Chief Magistrate Ajmal Gulab Khan took his oath again before Ratu Josefa at Government House.
The former Resident Magistrates who have taken the oaths today include Salesi Temo, Alofa Seruvatu, John Rabuku, Maika Nakora, Anare Tuilevuka, Mohammed Nazeem Nadeem Sahu Khan and Angela Wati.
West lawyer, Faizal Koya is the new Resident Magistrate who took his oath this morning.
The Magistrates Courts are expected to open from tomorrow.
Chief Magistrate, Ajmal Gulab Khan refused to make comments after the swearing in ceremony.
Ana Rokomokoti, Naomi Matanitobua, Vani Ravono, Amani Rokotinaviti, Laisa Laveti and Josaia Waqaivolavola have not been re-appointed as magistrates.
Rokomokoti is now the Chief Registrar of the courts.
Meanwhile, the Chief Justice, Judges of the High Court, Appeals Court and the Supreme Court are yet to be appointed.
