Veteran Lolo Lui will spear head Samoan sevens team campaign at this weekend’s NZ sevens in wellington.
Lui, who returns to the Samoa squad for the first time this season, is expected to be back at his best after a sterling performance at the Uprising International Sevens.
Lui is hoping his team can repeat their victory in 2007 when Samoa defeated Fiji to win its first ever Wellington Sevens.
Samoa are joined in Pool C by South Africa, Wales and Canada in arguably the toughest of the four pools, but the islanders sit fifth in the overall standings as they won the Dubai Sevens title last year.
The New Zealand Sevens kicks off in Wellington this Friday with Fiji taking on Scotland at 1.50pm in its first pool match.
Fiji then takes on Australia at 4.46pm and the last pool match is against Portugal at 8.34pm.
Our rugby commentator Akuila Cama will accompany the team and you can catch the latest interviews and reports from Wellington, from the streets of Wellington to the players’ hotel rooms, the changing rooms and from the sidelines at Westpac Stadium.
