Leadership in medicine leads to brighter future for healthcare system - Kamikamica

Leadership in medicine is about using knowledge, skills and compassion to lead the nations healthcare system towards a brighter and healthier future.

These were the sentiments by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Manoa Kamikamica during the Fiji Medical Associations 62nd Annual Scientific Conference at Shangri-La Fijian Resort, Sigatoka this morning.

Kamikamica emphasized that medical professionals have to be a purpose-driven leaders who understand their duty to serve patients with the best care, empathy, respect, and also remain committed to lifelong learning.

He says above all the moral compass should always point to what is right for your patient in any complex healthcare decision as leaders, strive to lead with purpose, inspire those around you and to leave a legacy of compassion in the field of medicine.

The two-day Annual Scientific Conference aims to nurture leadership in medicine with professionals speaking on resilience, tolerance, preserving the healthcare ecosystem and also engaging in a wellness activity.
