Also lawyers cannot take more than ten percent as contingency fee on any settlement or any sum awarded by the court.
Sayed-Khaiyum said that the money must be paid to the clients within seven days however fees can be higher than the ten percent but it should be based on an earlier agreement.
The amendments to the Legal Practitioners Decree will come into effect next week.
