Pritiksha Anjali Ram

A Fijian woman who grew up thousands of miles away in the Dominican Republic, Pritiksha Anjali Ram, has returned home with a global upbringing, fluency in Spanish and a determination to make her mark not in medicine like the rest of her family, but in law.

While speaking to fijivillage News after her admission to the bar yesterday, Ram says her admission was a proud moment not only for her but for her parents, who run the Lazer Centre eye clinic in Lautoka, her father as an eye specialist and her mother as an ophthalmic technician.

She shared that growing up around doctors sparked a deep interest in the legal issues affecting medicine, and she hopes to contribute to improving Fiji’s health system through legal reform.

Recalling her childhood in Latin America, Ram described the Dominican Republic as a place that shaped her identity and strengthened her ability to connect with people.

She urges young people to believe in their potential.
