LTA investigate death of woman and child at bus stand
The Land Transport Authority is conducting its own investigation in relation to a bus accident at the Suva bus stand yesterday afternoon which claimed the lives of a 46 year old mother and her three year old daughter.

LTA spokesperson Iliesa Sokia said all the three buses which were involved in this accident have been taken to LTA’s yard.

He added it’s unfortunate that this incident has occurred and more awareness is needed to prevent similar incidents in future.

Sokia sayid until their investigations are complete they cannot make any further comments on this issue.

A senior vehicle inspector from LTA is inspecting the bus which is alleged to have been involved in this accident.

It is alleged the driver had difficulty in moving the bus when the suspect who happens to be the bus checker decided to move the bus onto Harris Road.

As he drove out it is alleged the bus started experiencing some problems and in the process hit another parked bus from behind.

The impact of this incident resulted in the bus hitting another bus as the victims were crossing between the two buses.

The suspect remains in custody.
