LTA Officers Allegedly Taking Bribes
As a major crackdown begins on illegal minibuses mainly operating along the Suva-Nausori corridor, Fijivillage News has established that some illegal vehicles are being allowed to continue operating.

Some drivers have informed Fijivillage News that they continue operating as some LTA officers are allegedly asking them to give them money in return for their vehicles to stay on the roads.

While many mini buses have been seized, others are allowed to operate but some LTA officers are asking drivers for about $5 if they are stopped at snap checkpoints.

When questioned about the issue, the Land Transport Authority Chief Executive Officer has urged the members of the public to lodge a complaint with him if LTA Officers demand money from drivers.

Etuate Koroi said there has been a lot of talk about some LTA officers allegedly asking for bribes from drivers at checkpoints.

However they will not be able to take any action if complaints are not lodged.
