Kava Bars in Fiji directed to close at 1am

Kava Bars around Fiji have now been ordered to close at 1am effective immediately through the Government’s directive.

This has been confirmed by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Communications, Manoa Kamikamica to fijivillage News.

The new closing time is in line with the Government’s directive to match the trading hours of nightclubs.

Kamikamkica says it is very simple - nightclub hours must be the same for Kava Bars.

He says this is to also keep our streets and the public safe.

He adds the Government cannot allow Kava Bars to close later or the early hours of the morning.

When contacted, Director Operations and Senior Superintendent of Police Kasiano Vusonilawe also confirmed that they have been given the directive to enforce this regulation starting from last night.
