Karate wins another 2 gold today for Team Fiji
Sandip Pala won a silver medal for Team Fiji in the Karate 60kg Kumite event.

Team Fiji has won two gold medals in the Pacific Games karate competition today. 

Joji Veremalua won gold for Fiji in the 75kg Kumite event.

In the women’s category, Adi Drodrolagi Kidianaceva took gold for Fiji in the 60kg Kumite.

Fiji’s Sandip Pala took silver in the 60kg Kumite event.    

Team Fiji Karate won three gold medals in the competition yesterday.

Looking at athletics, Banuve Tabakaucoro and Younis Bese are aiming to win gold in their 100 metres events in the Pacific Games tonight.

But the siblings from PNG - Toea and Kupun Wisil will provide stiff competition to Fiji.

Tabakaucoro looks set to win gold in the men’s 100 metres event and his main competition is expected to be Kupun Wisil. 

Tabakaucoro qualified for the men’s 100 metres semifinals after clocking the fastest time during the heats last night. 

He clocked a time of 10.50secs while Kupun Wisil clocked the second fastest time of 10.68 seconds. 

Tabakaucoro’s fastest time is 10.22 seconds.

The qualifying time for the Olympics is 10.16 seconds. 

Fiji’s Francis Kirikirikula and Albert Miller have also qualified for the Pacific Games semifinals. 

The men’s semifinal is at 6.45 tonight while the 100 metres final starts at 9.30 tonight. 

Younis Bese will face stiff competition from Pacific sprint queen, Toea Wisil. 

In the women’s 100m heats, Bese qualified for the semifinals after clocking the second fastest time of 12.10 seconds. 

Favourite Toea Wisil clocked the fastest time of 12.08 seconds during the heats. 

Heleina Young and Sisilia Seavula have also qualified for the 100m women’s semifinals. 

Toea Wisil’s personal best time is 11.40 seconds.

The semifinals are at 6.30 tonight while the women’s 100 metres final is at 9.50 tonight.

The 800 metres women’s final is at 7.50 tonight while the men’s 800m final is at 8.10pm.  

Boxing starts at 6 tonight. 

Team Fiji has three boxers in this year’s competition.

Looking at the Fijivillage Pacific Games medal tally, Papua New Guinea is leading with 42 gold, 30 silver and 31 bronze. 

New Caledonia is in second place with 28 gold, 28 silver and 22 bronze while Team Fiji has jumped to third place with 23 gold, 28 silver and 21 bronze and Tahiti has gone down to fourth place with 23 gold, 17 silver and 17 bronze.
