The Judicial Services Commission has suspended Nadi Magistrate, Saiyed Mukhtar Shah pending investigations of misconduct against him as highlighted in the Inquiry into the Magistrates court.
While announcing the suspension, Interim Attorney General Aiyaz Saiyed Khaiyum only revealed that the Judicial Services Commission had found sufficient evidence to order the suspension.
When contacted this afternoon Shah referred all questions to his lawyer Iqbal Khan. Khan told Fijivillage news that they are now preparing to take legal action against Shah's suspension.
Khan also said that they will seek a stay on the suspension and claims that they are in the dark on the allegations levelled against his client.
It was earlier revealed that during the Inquiry into the Magistrates court several allegations of abuse of office and misconduct were levelled against Sayed Muktar Shah by members of the public.
However he did not appear before the inquiry commissioner.
