IPL suspended after rise in COVID-19 cases among players
Varun Chakravarthy is one of two Kolkata Knight Riders players to test positive for Covid-19

The Indian Premier League cricket competition has been suspended after an increase in coronavirus cases among players.

A Sunrisers Hyderabad player tested positive before their match against Mumbai Indians this morning.

Yesterday’s match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore was postponed after two KKR had players tested positive.

In a statement, the IPL says the Board of Control for Cricket in India does not want to compromise on the safety of the players, support staff and the other participants involved in organising the IPL.
