Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr will miss tomorrow’s highly anticipated El Clasico against Barcelona after being handed a four-game suspension for pulling an opponent’s hair during Real Madrid’s 1-nil win over Villarreal.
The Brazil international was sent off after coming on as a substitute in the 52nd minute.
The referee reviewed the footage on the pitchside monitor before disallowing his goal and showing him a red card for pulling Nathan Saliba’s hair.
Vinicius later apologised to his teammates and Real Madrid fans in a social media post, saying he was sorry for his actions.
The Spanish Football Federation’s disciplinary committee handed Vinicius a two-game ban for violent conduct and a further two-game ban for protesting against the officials.
The suspension means Vinicius will also miss Real Madrid’s matches against Sevilla on 19th October, Racing Santander on 1st November and Valencia on 7th November.
