The Creative Director and Founder of the House of Mausio, Michael Mausio says they managed to keep all their 15 staff employed throughout the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic and they also saw an increase in orders as a lot of intimate family functions were taking place.

Mausio says they were not quite as affected as larger markets because they supply to a niche market.

He says they had made the move to establish an online platform before Fiji was hit by the pandemic in March last year.

House of Mausio will be showcasing 15 pieces at this year’s first ever virtual Fiji Fashion Week.

Mausio further says they had faced challenges of getting material last year but because they have been in the industry for a long time, they have were able to bulk buy all their fabric in advance from China and India.

The Creative Director adds their clientele was previously limited to only those people who had attended the show in person but they are expecting to open to a bigger market and to increase their client base during virtual Fiji Fashion Week.

The Fiji Fashion Week will be virtual and free of charge when it opens on November 22nd this year.
