“The Vodafone Hibiscus Festival is a chance to strengthen my skills of volunteerism.”

This was the comment by this year’s Miss Suva City Council, Joana Qica during a morning tea hosted by the Suva City Council.

Qica said she did volunteer work for few youth organizations in the past few years and the mother of all festivals will show her more pathways for volunteerism.

She said the Hibiscus festival theme of climate change goes well with her advocacy which is child protection.

The 20-year-old Law student said children have been considered as victims of climate change but if they are given proper training and opportunities they would have a solution to protect themselves.

Qica added that she is looking forward to the talent night tomorrow as she has been practicing twice a week to entertain the people.

The Vodafone Hibiscus Festival will end this Saturday with the crowning of the Miss Vodafone Hibiscus 2014.
