The Health Minister has ordered an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of 18-year-old Lawrence Anthony who passed away at the CWM Hospital on Wednesday morning.
Lawrence Anthony of Nine miles who was a form seven student was rushed to the CWM hospital on Monday morning after being found unconscious by his parents.
His father Anand Lal Anthony earlier told Fijivillage that he was always in touch with the staff at the Intensive Care Unit and on Wednesday morning he called at around 3am to check on his son.
He was informed that his son was stable however two hours later, he was informed that his son has passed away.
Anthony went to pick up his son's death certificate on Thursday and he was told that there was bleeding in his son's lungs.
He said they have started funeral preparations, however he still does not know why this happened.
Health Minister Dr, Neil Sharma said he has directed hospital staff to provide a full explanation of what had happened and will relay this to the family personally once the investigation is complete.
He said the family deserves an explanation and they will get it.
Lawrence Anthony's funeral will be held tomorrow.
