Group allegedly assaults student at home

Police are now looking for a group of students of a Suva school who allegedly assaulted a student of another school at his home on Tuesday night.

Fijivillage has received confirmation that a suspect is known to Police.

Spokesperson, Ana Naisoro said they are narrowing down to the students allegedly involved.

We have received confirmation that the group of students went to the victim's home in Tacirua at about 9pm Tuesday.

They asked the student's mother that they wanted to see her son.

The mother allowed them to see him as they were students from the neighbourhood.

However she then saw about eight students beating up her son.

The student has been taken to hospital and the matter has been reported to police.      

Police Commissioner, Brigadier General Ioane Naivalurua is calling on students not to cross the line and officers have been instructed to speed up investigations.

He said anyone involved will be taken to task.

Police say they are serious about getting to the bottom of this issue and students must stop this unruly behaviour and concentrate on their studies.

The Commissioner said that despite the school visitations, some students are still testing the long arm of the law which is a serious concern and all efforts are now being made to catch the people involved.
