A disappointed Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua Women’s coach Mosese Rauluni says grand finals are about taking opportunities and they didn't take them in their 50-14 loss against the Waratahs in the Super Rugby Women's final in Ballymore.
Rauluni says a few balls to hand and it would have been a different story.
The Drua were outscored 8 tries to 2 by the Tahs in the one-sided final.
He says the Tahs beat them physically with their ball carries while the Drua tackles were too high which got them yellow cards and put them on the back foot.
The coach says he knows the girls are better than that so it's better not to dwell in the past.
He says the Waratahs have been the benchmark team all season with their skill, execution and fitness and have been way above everyone.
Indiscipline also proved too costly for Drua Women from getting a three-peat in the Super Rugby Women’s final after getting 3 yellow and 1 red card.
Yellow cards were shown to Adita Milinia, Asinate Serevi and Jennifer Ravutia receiving two.
While the Drua played well in the first half to trail the Tahs 17-7 going into half-time they really could not keep that momentum going in the second half as they were down to 14 and even 13 players for most of the time.
The Drua fly back today before they put their hands up for selection into the national side for the World Rugby Oceania Tournament next month where they will go up against Samoa, Tonga and Papua New Guinea.
The winner of the Oceania Tournament directly qualifies for the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup in England.
