The Fijian Government explored options for attracting private sector investment at a meeting in Washington D.C. between Attorney‑General and Minister for Finance Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum and representatives from the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency(MIGA).
Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency is an international financial institution and member of the World Bank Group that specialises in offering risk insurance and credit enhancements on foreign direct investments in developing countries.
Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said that Fiji needs a new set of tools and insurance products to fund Fiji’s development across a broad front, particularly in our health, housing and energy sectors.
Sayed-Khaiyum said the agency’s products could offer new opportunities to attract private sector investment into Fiji bringing more money into the Fijian economy and raising the standard of living for ordinary Fijians.
