Gibson Guitar Company to be exclusive buyer of Fiji Pure Mahogany
The Gibson Guitar Company has announced that it will be the exclusive buyer of the Fiji Pure Mahogany for its guitars.

Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama and Gibson CEO & Chairman Henry Juskiewicz had a joint press conference in Nashville yesterday to announce Gibson agreement with Fiji to be the exclusive buyer.

Commodore Bainimarama, who is visiting the United States to speak at the United Nations, made a special trip to Nashville to celebrate the partnership with Gibson Guitar.

In addition to having the largest mahogany plantation in the world, in the Mahogany Development Decree of 2010 Fiji acknowledged the need for the mahogany industry to be operated on a basis that is sustainable and long term.

The Fijian government recently established the certified mark, Fiji Pure Mahogany, to certify plantation grown wood of Fiji origin that is legally grown, harvested and produced.

Gibson guitars, made outside of Nashville, Tennessee, is one of the industry standards in high-quality, highly-sought after guitars throughout the world.

Meanwhile there are also indications that officials of Gibson Guitar will visit Fiji soon in the hope of starting an assembly of Gibson guitar factory.
