Gale warning remains in force
A gale warning remains in force for the Lau group as Hurricane Daman moves away from the Fiji group.

The Special Bulletin issued from the Nadi Weather Office states that the Hurricane warning for all other areas is now cancelled.

At 10am this morning, Daman was located at 16 decimal 2 South 178 decimal 6 west or about 148 kilometers East of Udu point and 162 kilometers east Northern east of Taveuni.

The intensity of winds close to the centre of the hurricane is estimated at 165 kilometers per hour with gusts of 230 kilometers per hour. It is moving East South East at about 18 kilometers per hour.

For the Lau group winds of damaging gale force of 65 km/hr and momentary gusts of 110 km/hr today and tonight as Daman passes close by. Sea flooding of low lying coastal areas is expected especially during high tides.
