21‑year‑old, Suliasi Fuata who allegedly punched and stabbed his 19‑year‑old partner causing her death in Colo‑i‑Suva last Friday appeared in the Nasinu Magistrates Court in the last hour.
Fuata has been charged with one count of murder.
Magistrate Charles Ratakele has remanded Fuata in custody and the matter has been transferred to the Suva High Court which will be called on the 12th of this month.
Magistrate Ratakele also said in court today that Fuata has a case of assault before him.
Police had earlier said that the alleged incidents occurred during a heated argument over a Facebook message that was sent to a relative of the victim.
The 19‑year‑old woman was rushed to the CWM Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
