Fijian rugby players in Pro D2 handed suspended sentence for assault in France

Two Fijian rugby players plying their trade in the Pro D2 division have been handed a 12-month suspended prison sentence for assault in France.

Their identities have not been released.

French media have reported that the two Fijians were found guilty of sexual assault, violence, and damage to property while clearly intoxicated.

Reports state that the players sexually assaulted two waitresses before violently attacking an employee of one of the bars.

The court has ordered the two players to refrain from contacting the witnesses in Dax.
