Fiji is more than capable of overcoming its adversities and renewing itself – Rabuka

People’s Alliance Leader Sitiveni Rabuka

People’s Alliance Leader Sitiveni Rabuka says his main message for 2022 and onwards is that Fiji is more than capable of overcoming its adversities, renewing itself and we can rise up as far as we want to go if we come together as patriotic citizens.

Rabuka says we can continue to develop greater mutual understanding among ourselves, see our differences as integral to a complete nation and help each other as neighbours

He adds he pays tribute to those who go out every day to support the hungry and the dispossessed.

Rabuka says they embody the marvellous principles of community service and love of neighbour.

He highlighted that people expect the government in 2022 to be super-vigilant in restraining both COVID-19 and Omicron.

He adds that people must accept that government cannot stop a resurgence in COVID-19 and Omicron by itself and everyone must be part of this on-going battle.

Rabuka says the minority not yet vaccinated should get on with it and those who have had their two jabs must find out when they can get a booster shot.

The former Prime Minister urges the authorities to act unhesitatingly against people who are not following COVID safe measures.

Rabuka adds it is a universal tradition for people to welcome a New Year with expressions of confidence and hope and we should continue with those positive attitudes as we come to grips with what 2022 might bring.

He says we should also be proud of our country, its varied traditions, humour, laughter and welcoming spirit.
