The Young Kulas have booked their spot in the semi-finals of the OFC U-19 Women’s Championship 2025 after a 2-1 win over Tonga, finishing top of Group A in Tahiti.
Elesi Tabunase opened the scoring with a diving header in the 8th minute, followed by captain Sereana Naweni’s goal just three minutes later.
Fiji led Tonga 2-0 at halftime.
In the second half, Tonga improved defensively but struggled to create chances until the 68th minute when Anela Makaafi’s goal gave them some breathing space.
Despite Tonga’s relentless pressure in the final stages, the Young Kulas held firm.
Fiji will now face either New Caledonia or Tahiti in the semi-finals.
The Cook Islands finish as group runners-up and are likely to face defending champions New Zealand for a place in the final.
