Fiji has raked in $121m from the end of 2021 to date from the export of fresh and chilled agricultural produce.

Permanent Secretary for Agriculture, Vinesh Kumar says this shows a phenomenal increase in the agricultural sector as previously, the export of fresh/chilled agriculture produce stood at $55m.

Kumar adds that during the height of COVID-19, Fiji exported $116m worth of fresh and chilled produce.

He says this growth was a result of a joint effort by stakeholders, producers and exporters who took on the challenge in light of the increase in freight costs.

Kumar says as the Agriculture Ministry works to maintain and grow this export market, it has also continued initiatives with farmers to continue to meet the consumer demand in the country that has also increased significantly with the tourism industry now back in full swing.
