Fiji 7s team thrashes Brazil in first pool match
Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama speaks to the Fiji 7s team.

The Fiji 7s team thrashed Brazil 40-12 in their first pool match of the Men's Olympic 7s tournament in Rio.

Fiji led 7-5 in the first half with the host drawing first blood before Veremalua scored Fiji's first try.

Ben Ryan's side struggled to find their rhythm in the first half however they hit back strongly in the second half.

Josua Tuisova scored two tries in the second half.

The other tries were scored by captain Osea Kolinisau, Jasa Veremalua and Samisoni Viriviri.

Some concerns have been raised on the refereeing as Brazil was awarded their second try despite a knock on at the lineout.

Commentators also raised concern in the USA vs Argentina match when referee, Craig Joubert sent an Argentinian player to the sin bin for a high tackle.

The video replay clearly showed that it was not a high tackle.

Some lineout throws in some games were also not straight however the referees did not pick up on this.

South Africa looks dangerous as they thrashed both their pool opponents and no team has crossed their try line so far.

Players like Seabelo Senatla, Cecil Afrika, Justin Geduld, Kwagga Smith, Rosco Specman and Kyle Brown are combining well as they chase the first Rugby 7s Olympic gold medal.
