The Vodafone Fiji 7s team has lifted the HSBC World 7s series trophy for only the third time at Twickenham Stadium in London.
This is also the first time for Fiji to win back-to-back series titles.
It is also the second series title for Fiji under the leadership of coach Ben Ryan.
By reaching the Cup quarterfinals at the London 7s, Fiji confirmed their status as the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series champion.
Fiji retained the 2015/2016 World Sevens Series title with 181 points.
South Africa finished second with 171 points, New Zealand settled in third place with 158 points while Australia finished in fourth place with 134 points.
The national side won the Dubai 7s, Las Vegas 7s and Hong Kong 7s this season and failed to reach the Cup semifinals on just one occasion in Cape Town where they went on to win the Plate.

The national side reached five finals before the London 7s.
Fiji finished the London 7s in fourth place after losing 26-19 to USA in the third place play‑off.
South Africa beat Fiji 26-21 in the Cup semifinals.
Scotland beat USA in the second semifinal by 24-17.
In the Cup quarters, Fiji beat France 40-7, USA thrashed NZ 42-14, Scotland beat England 17-0 while South Africa beat Argentina 21-19.
Meanwhile Scotland caused a massive upset to beat South Africa 27-26 to win their first ever title at the London 7s.

Scotland played with brave hearts as they scored two tries within two minutes to break the hearts of the South Africans.
The Scotland team will now join forces with England and Wales to form the Great Britain team to the Olympics in August.
Looking at other results, Kenya beat Russia 31-7 to win the Shield final while Wales defeated Australia 24-10 to win the Bowl final.
The Plate final was won by New Zealand after they beat Argentina 29-14.
