Father/son charged with attempted murder

Police have laid charges against a father and his son for allegedly striking an on duty police officer at the Grantham Road Police Post earlier this week.

Police confirmed the 48-year-old father and his 28-year-old son have been charged with attempted murder and will be produced in court tomorrow.

According to Police, while the officer was interviewing a woman, the suspect with another person who was under the influence of liquor and were making noise outside the police post.

The officer warned the two and it is then alleged that the suspect went to his house, got hold of a knife and came to the police post where he allegedly struck the officer on the head.

The police officer remains admitted at the CWM hospital in a critical condition.
