The Fiji Performing Rights Association Chairman Eremasi Tamanisau has called on their young members, during their Annual General Meeting, not to be easily swayed by unscrupulous companies and sign off their copyrights or the ownership of their songs.

In an interview with fijivilage, Tamanisau says they have received reports that some composers and artists who have already signed their copyright with FPRA, go and sign up again with these companies who are well aware that this is not allowed.

He says the composers were desperate as they needed the money.

Tamanisau says some of the members who are victims of this issue have gone to seek legal advice.

The Chairman says composers cannot sign their copyrights to another company unless the assignment of their rights to FPRA has been terminated.
