As we enter the Easter long weekend and as Christians all over the world, as well as in Fiji, commemorate the Lord Jesus Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection, we are reminded of Christ's victory over death.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Finance and National Federation Party Leader, Professor Biman Prasad, stated this in his Easter message, saying the significance of Easter is how Christ triumphed over death, over evil and unjust collusion that sent him to be crucified.

He says it is a timely reminder to all of us about the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the good of humanity.

Prof. Prasad says the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ serve as a constant reminder to all of us to spread the message of hope, unity, compassion and care.

He says it also tells us to thwart the forces with devious designs and re-establish the rule of righteousness.

The NFP Leader wishes everyone a blessed and safe Easter and urges our people to reflect on the spiritual significance of this annual event as we search for answers to our pressing national issues.

He says all of us must at all times demonstrate our unflinching commitment to the cause of humanity.

Prof. Prasad says let us remember and reach out to our suffering countrymen, women, elders, widows, widowers and children, and see in them the redemption message of Easter and the dignified compassion of Christ.

He says all of us should harness our energy and resources to reclaim, rebuild, restore and reunite as a nation, as this is not a time for political grandstanding and being egoistic.

The NFP Leader adds may this divine and timely spirit of Easter inspire us to continue to heal and move forward to make our beloved Fiji a land of hope and opportunity.
