There is dissent in the Opposition Group of 16 Bloc as member Sanjay Kirpal who voted for the motion to suspend Standing Order to allow for the tabling of the Constitution Amendment Bill last night will be writing a complaint to the Speaker of Parliament after they were called a snake.

Other Group of 16 members Shalen Kumar, Sachida Nand and Rinesh Sharma also voted for the motion.

While raising a point of order in Parliament this morning, Kirpal says the 4 of them voted for the suspension of the Standing Order as they thought that it is necessary to get the Constitutional Amendment Bill tabled in Parliament.

He says after the voting, one of the MPs said they are a snake and this will be given to the Privileges Committee through the Speaker's approval.

The MP says when he went to the Opposition Chamber yesterday, Opposition MP Semi Koroilavesau said that he has no place there.

He asks how can Koroilavesau say that when both of them are independent MPs.

Kirpal says it is sad that Members of Parliament cannot differentiate between suspension of the Standing Order motion and voting on the Bill.

He says by tomorrow, he will get back to the Speaker’s Office in writing regarding the four of them who voted for the motion of their status in Parliament.

Meanwhile, Koroilavesau says it was his personal opinion if he does not want Kirpal in his personal space, and he has the right to tell him that.

He says Kirpal does not have to drag his position as the previous Minister.

Speaker Filimoni Jitoko says he will take note of the issue raised and await for the written complaint and make his ruling thereafter.
