People on the Digicel network now have access to the ‘Roam Like You’re Home’ service.

The prepay customers will now pay the low rates as they are doing in Fiji when roaming in countries such as Australia, New Zealand, PNG, Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu and Nauru.

Digicel Fiji CEO Darren McLean says the roaming service will change the way Fijians use their mobile phones overseas because travellers can make calls, send text messages and use data without concern about the additional cost applied to roaming.

He says many of their customers travel regularly to Australia and New Zealand and other Pacific markets and they want to stay connected.

Digicel will make an announcement on Postpay roaming in the coming days.

Charges are 42 cents per minute to make and receive calls, 24 cents to send an SMS, and 21 cents per mb.

The SMS, data and rate per minute for calling is the same as Digicel customers in Fiji.
