Refusal of acceptance of Fiji National Provident Fund/ Fiji Revenue Customs Service Joint Identification Card has raised concerns within Fiji Revenue Customs Service.
Fiji Revenue and Customs Service Chief Executive Officer Visvanath Das says that concerns have been brought to their attention by members of the public that Financial Institution, Educational Institution, Statuary Authorities and Employers are not accepting the use of Joint card for identification purposes.
Das says that instead these institutions and organisation are requesting for Tax Identification Number letter as a mandatory requirement to open a new bank account, application for a driver’s license and for employment purposes.
Das says that when a person has a FNPF/FRCS Joint ID Card, a TIN letter is not required as they are phasing out issuing the letter.
He adds that the Joint Card can be used for TIN requirement purposes.
The Fiji Revenue and Customs Services is calling on all organisations and institutions to accept the FNPF/FRCS Joint ID Card as the main form of identification.
