Preschoolers of Seaqaqa Primary School in Macuata now have a much-improved learning environment following the opening of their new classroom.
The $110,000 classroom project, opened by the Commissioner Northern Jovesa Vocea can now accommodate a total of 60 students in the new classroom compared to the 35 that are currently enrolled with the school.
Vocea said this project would provide the young students a more conducive environment to learn in.
He adds that the aim of the block was to provide a safe, strong and resilient structure that will be able to withstand cyclonic categories in the future.
School Manager Lakhan Kumar said the new classroom had been a dream of the school management to better accommodate the preschoolers and this had now been achieved.
Prasad said the classroom, which has already been fitted out with furniture, has a storage room and a built-in washroom for the students.
The project was funded by a grant of $49,850.75 from the Prime Minister’s Office and the school also raised and contributed $60,000.
