The Ministry of Forestry has re-purposed fallen pine trees in Kadavu during Tropical Cyclone Harold to be used to build close to 200 homes on the island.

They are collaborating with the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development, and the Ministry of Housing and Community Development to start re-building houses to up to category 4 cyclone standard.

It says the new budget will enable them to re-purpose more timber that will be used to re-build more houses in the coming months.

The Ministry for Forestry has allocated $1.5 million for the Maritime Pine Development and the purchase of harvesting machines and equipment.
