Re-elected President of the Fiji Law Society, William Wylie Clarke says he is honoured by the trust placed in him by his colleagues and is humbled by the responsibility that comes with this office.

Clarke says this new term will continue work and focus in three key areas - pro bono legal services, upholding the rule of law, and modernising the Society’s systems to best serve their members.

Under Clarke’s leadership, supported by the new Council, the Fiji Law Society embarks on a period of renewed ambition strengthening pro bono structures, reinforcing ethical standards, improving member services, and deepening regional engagement.

The annual convention in October will mark an important early milestone in this journey.

Clarke was re-elected after securing 80 votes to 39 ahead of Dorsami Naidu of Pillai Naidu Lawyers.

The Law Society says the result announced last night at the Annual General Meeting underscores strong support from the Law Society for Clarke’s leadership vision.

Clarke, a Principal at Howards Lawyers, is a seasoned commercial lawyer and governance expert.

Clarke’s re-election also ushers in a new council for the Fiji Law Society.

The incoming members include Poonam Maharaj Wong (Neel Shivam Lawyers) Vice President and Council Members Seruwaia Nayacalevu (Shekinah Law), Mele Rakai (Sherani & Co), Dilan Patel (Samuel Ram Lawyers), Jotishna Nair (VP & JN Lawyers), Arthi Swamy (Patel & Sharma Lawyers), and Jovilisi Liganivai (Munro Leys).

The Council reflects a diverse and experienced cohort across litigation, commercial practice, family law, and governance.
