Chiefs co-captain Sam Cane expects the Highlanders to persist with their lineout drive tonight, although it was largely ineffective against the Crusaders.

The All Blacks skipper says Highlanders Coach, Tony Brown’s fingerprints were all over their tactics deployed in the loss to the defending champions, including cross-field kicks and the attacks.

Cane adds he also thinks the Highlanders have realised that Aaron Smith is getting older and they want to look after him, even though he’s still firing on all cylinders.

The Chiefs also have a new halves’ combination with Bryn Gatland and their incumbent halfback Brad Weber.

The Chiefs will face the Highlanders at 6.05 tonight while the Crusaders will take on the Hurricanes at 3.35pm Sunday.

In Super Rugby Australia, the Waratahs will take on the Force at 8.45 tonight while the Brumbies will face the Rebels at 8.45pm tomorrow.
