Motherhood is a celebration!!
These are the sentiments of Taufa Vakatale who said she has achieved a lot of things in her personal life and career, but at the end of the day she has always viewed being a mother as the most important role that she will ever play.
Vakatale acted as Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs in 1994, and Deputy Prime Minister from 1997 99.
Vakatale said all mothers should view mothers day as a celebration of nurturing.
She added she admires mothers these days as they are faced with a lot more problems.
Today when we remember our mothers and the role their have play, it is important for us to understand that they have not only contribute to the lives of their individual families but also they have made a lot of difference in making our society a better and enjoyable place.
Those are the words of the Acting General Secretary of the Methodist Church of Fiji, Reverend Tevita Nawadra who said we should devote the whole of today to show our mothers the respect their deserve.
Nawadra added for those who are unfortunate that they have lost their mothers, they should always remember that God is there for them.
Mothers Day which is celebrated every second Sunday in May, was born from an idea that originated on May 12, 1907 when Anna Jarvis of West Virginia, held a memorial, for her mother two years after her death and thereafter embarked upon a campaign to make "Mother's Day" a recognized holiday.
