Despite having limited training resources in Levuka, Saint John’s College Cawaci student Luisa Driso is optimistic about producing positive results in this year’s Coca-Cola Games which starts this Thursday.

The 19-year-old broke her own Zone record in the senior girls’ triple jump during the Coca-Cola Lomaiviti Zone this year. Originally from Nailaga in Ba, Driso jumped 9.36 metres during the Zone meet this year despite having a few niggling back injuries before the competition.

Driso told fijivillage News that the injuries did not dampen her spirits and she is taking a day at a time to conquer these obstacles.

The year 13 student says she will do her best to win a medal at the Coca-Cola Games this year for her family who have been very supportive of her.

Her Triple Jump Coach Yabaki Driso, who is her father and also a school teacher at Saint John’s College Cawaci, says having limited training resources and expertise in training will not deter her daughter and teammates from working hard towards their goal as they will rise to the occasion when the need arises.

Saint John’s College will be fielding 19 athletes for the Games this year. The Coca-Cola Games will be held from this Thursday to Saturday at the HFC Bank Stadium
