A team from the Mineral Resources Department is now on Qamea Island evaluating the current and future hazards which landslides would have on villages on the island.

The Dreketi Health centre as well a community hall and houses were damaged by a massive landslide in Dreketi village.

Houses were also swept out to sea during the Tropical Depression last month.

Personnel from the Department of Energy are also on the island conducting minor repairs on solar power systems.

The government also confirmed yesterday that a team on Qamea Island is also working to build a temporary school structure in Dreketi village after Dreketi Primary School was totally damaged by landslides during the Tropical Depression last month.

Personnel from the Ministry of Education have identified a site for a temporary school structure to be built before the school term begins on the 16th of this month.
