Residents in the west seek help as termite damage worsens in homes
PC: Navneet Ram

Residents across the Western Division are raising concerns over extensive termite damage to their homes, with some houses reportedly deteriorating to the point where they have been advised to be burnt down.

Speaking to fijivillage News, Navneet Ram says the situation has worsened, with termites causing significant damage to homes and their structures.

He says termite infestations can cause extensive structural damage over time, potentially leaving homeowners facing costly repairs or the need to replace damaged structures.

Ram says the problem, previously concentrated in Lautoka, has spread to other parts of the West, including Ba.

Ram says some residents light fires every evening in an effort to reduce termite activity, however, the problem remains persistent.

He is calling on relevant government authorities to assist families whose homes have suffered extensive termite damage.

Questions have been sent to Biosecurity Authority Fiji.
