Aquatic Centre and Hockey Centre now open after undergoing upgrade

The wait is over as the Damodar Aquatic Centre and the National Hockey Centre are now open after undergoing upgrade.

While speaking at the opening of the two sporting centres, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says they are celebrating a moment of historical significance, where the harmonious ties of friendship, cooperation, and unwavering commitment are exemplified.

He says the Damodar City Aquatic Centre and the National Hockey Centre transcend their physical structures; they represent our shared history and steadfast dedication.

Rabuka says over the course of two decades, these venues have evolved into beacons of talent, sportsmanship and dreams.

He adds the importance of these venues transcends economic considerations; they are instrumental in the comprehensive youth development initiatives.

The Prime Minister says they provide an invaluable platform for Fiji’s budding athletes, nurturing their dreams and instilling the virtues of discipline, leadership, and collaboration.

Rabuka adds these venues, therefore, serve as crucibles for the leaders of our future.

Chinese Ambassador to Fiji, Zhou Jian says these developments symbolizes the great relationship between the two nations.

He says the total development is funded by the People's Republic of China and it has world class facilities that can cater for big competitions.
