The three-time world champions, All Blacks will be desperate for a convincing win over Namibia on Saturday after losing 27-13 to hosts France and won't be taking any chances with the health of openside flanker Sam Cane.

All Blacks forwards coach Jason Ryan says the loose man didn't train with them yesterday as he got through a little bit of running work and they will reassess.

Ryan says they've got to get Cane right and they will not be taking any risks with the skipper because he is important to them.

He says centre Jordie Barrett also looks like an unlikely starter for Saturday's match after only resuming full training yesterday as he completes his rehabilitation from a knee joint issue.

Meanwhile, injured flanker Shannon Frizell and prop Tyrell Lomax will not be available for their second pool game.

The All Blacks will face Namibia in their second pool game at 7am Saturday.
